Welcome to CISG Thailand.  This website is hosted by Dr.Jumpita Ruangvichathorn, and, currently in affiliation with Sripatum University, Bangkok, Thailand.  Dr.Ruangvichathorn has completed her Master and Doctorate Degree of Law (LL.M. and Ph.D.) from University of Exeter, England in 2000 (The topic of Dr. Ruangvichathorn's Ph.D Thesis is "Breach of Contract in International Sale of Goods: An Evaluation of the 1980 Vienna Sales Convention and the 1994 UNIDROIT Principles as Compared with English Law and the (US) Uniform Commercial Code").  Before joining Sripatum University in mid - June 2007 as Director of Master of Laws Program in Business Law / LL.M. (Business Law), Dr. Ruangvichathorn has worked with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) as Head of Foreign and Power Purchase Contract Counseling Section, Legal Division.  Back in 2005, Dr.Ruangvichathorn has been appointed, under the authorization of Professor Albert H. Kritzer, Executive Secretary of the Pace Institute of International Commercial Law, Pace University Law  School, USA, to operate CISG Website as the Centre of Thailand (Please view ‘autonomous network of CISG websites’ at www.cisg.law.pace.edu.).  Dr.Ruangvichathorn has also been appointed by School of Law, University of Exeter, England and Faculty of Law, Thammasat University, Thailand as university fellow and adjunct law lecturer respectively.Notwithstanding the fact that Thailand is not currently a CISG Contracting State, Thailand is in no position to deny the growth of its international trade, and sooner or later CISG will definitely be scheduled as significant agenda of the Thai government.  Currently, large percentage of Thailand's both export and import partners are CISG Contracting States, whether they are USA, China and Singapore.

There are, however, significant movements within Thailand via the Council of State of the Thai Government, whose responsibility is including the initiation of ratifying CISG, by engaging in a number of researches regarding CISG – one of which is the ‘Reservation on CISG’s Provisions’ whereby the Council of State has appointed Dr.Ruangvichathorn as its authorized reader in evaluating the compatibility of this particular piece of research.
